Stewart Geddes is interested in the idea of irretrievability in relation to the Modernist project. In a language that owes much to his interest in Cubist collage, he combines fragments of text, flat colour and distressed surfaces that explore the notion of the Modern ruin – ruins that were only recently the last word in newness.
